The IWC Pilot Spitfire is the epitome of what makes IWC so appealing. This reference, the IW3269, takes its appreciation of the model's lineage. The 41mm diameter case on this watch is very wearable and respects the history of the watch, but where this example differs from other Pilot references is how it interprets the dial furniture of this historical model. This watch sticks with tradition, with big white hands against a black dial, and clear white Arabic numerals surrounding the central hub of the watch. The case is a ceramic and titanium combination that protects from scratches while keeping everything light on the wrist. The only thing on the dial to let you know this is a special edition is the red-lettered Top Gun, named after the famous fighter pilot training school. The back of the watch also has the school's logo on it, a nice little touch for the owner of the watch to appreciate as they put it on.

The IW3269 is essentially like wearing a cockpit instrument on the wrist. Nevertheless, thanks to its smaller proportions and more pronounced 'vintage inspired' aesthetic, the piece feels a little more understated and subjectively composed compared to some of its Pilot watch brothers.
