Akai - AP-001 - Turntable

A classic, vintage record player from the "golden era" of vinyl in excellent condition. Heavy, majestic and reliable. Features: Mains frequency synchronized motor, precise, counterweight-based anti-skating mechanism, tonearm with standard H-4 5/16 inch bayonet mount, auto-stop (no return). Power switch has 2 "on" positions for different record sizes (for correct auto-stop positions) Basic parameters: Platter: 300mm aluminium die-cast Drive system: belt drive Motor: 4-pole synchronous motor Speeds: 33⅓ and 45rpm W&F: 0,06% WRMS Tonearm: S-shaped, static balanced, with centripetal force canceller ("anti-skating"). Effective length: 220mm Overhang: 15mm Cartridge weight range: 4 to 10g (possible to extend to about 15g using sub weight) Dimensions: 440 x 140 x 350mm Power supply: 220-240VAC/50Hz IMPORTANT! Production year: 1977 Weight: 6,3kg Visual condition is very good, and considering the age of this equipment: literally perfect. Traces of use are almost invisible: can find some very little scratches on the dust cover, here and there on the sides of the housing there are small spots and abrasions. Due to the dark graphite, slightly metallic colour of the casing, this is practically invisible. The details of the appearance are shown in the photos, which are an integral part of the description. The turntable had been unused for about 40 years, so it was thoroughly serviced, checked and tested. The turntable bearing have been cleaned and lubricated (and also other pieces, where greasing is mandatory). The drive belt is replaced with a new one. The springs in the hinges have weakened somewhat with age, but still hold the lid open. The cover buffers have hardened with age (see detailed photos). I am including 4 pieces of self-adhesive foam rubber pads that can be stuck on the original buffers (the size fits). All settings are correct, everything works great. The stylus is still in good condition and produces a nice, precise sound with cool, crisp bass. The plug of the power cable was cut slightly, otherwise it would not be possible to plug it into a grounded socket. I didn't want to replace this plug to keep 100% of the original factory parts. I add an RCA signal cable with an additional, separate ground wire to the set. Cable length: 90cm signal and 100cm GND. Attention: The motor speed of this turntable depends only on the frequency of the mains supply. This device is designed for 50Hz (for example European & UK) grids. It will be partially disassembled for shipment (like a new one): turntable platter with a belt and rubber lining will be separated and some mechanical parts will be immobilized, otherwise they may be damaged during transportation. Instructions on how to assemble everything together and how to put on the belt will be included (it's really simple ;) It will be shipped in a well-secured and insured package with a tracking option. Pickup in person is also possible. ++ The item is being auctioned for the second time because the first transaction was not paid by the buyer ++
