Zoldervonst,
Antieke gietijzeren kolenstrijkbout, met een houten handvat, door mijn overgrootmoeder gebruikt.


Het kolenstrijkijzer was een ingenieus apparaat dat werkte op basis van verbrande kolen om warmte te genereren. Om het te gebruiken, moest men het deksel optillen en de kolen in de holte van het strijkijzer plaatsen. Vervolgens werd het deksel gesloten en wachtte men tot de kolen opwarmden, waardoor het strijkijzer de benodigde hitte kreeg om kledingstukken glad te strijken. Dit proces vereiste geduld en zorgvuldigheid, omdat het belangrijk was om de kolen gelijkmatig te verdelen en de temperatuur goed te regelen om te voorkomen dat de kleding zou verbranden.
