Peter Lindbergh. Mathilde, Torre Eiffel, Rolling Stone, 1989.

The Eiffel Tower as a Parisian icon can be considered as a link that connects different times, creating a sort of continuum in the historical development, thus becoming a timeless symbol.
One of Marc Riboud's most famous images is known as: “Eiffel Tower Painter”, which takes the Parisian symbol as a setting in 1953. It represents a man painting the Eiffel Tower, posed as a dancer, located between the metal frame of the tower, beneath which the city of Paris emerges from the mist. A photograph where the icon is instantly recognizable, despite the partiality with which it is presented, allowing us to discover the rest of the city. A tribute made to the same photograph is that of the model Mathilde posing for the photographer Peter Lindbergh, for Rolling Stone magazine in 1989.

Peter Lindbergh was a prestigious and renowned fashion photographer, one of the main people responsible for the supermodel phenomenon.

One of the most influential photographers of the 20th century along with other photographers of his time such as: Man Ray, Ansel Adams, Henri Cartier-Bresson, Edward Steichen, Werner Bischof, Robert Capa, Elliott Erwitt, Walter Evans, Eugene Smith, Philippe Halsman, Diane Arbus, Eve Arnold, Robert Doisneau, Richard Avedon, Steve McCurry, among many others.
