Kazuo Maekawa is een mangaka met 27 jaar ervaring en de originele tekenaar van de manga Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney en Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth.

Na de game gespeeld te hebben, is hij naar Kodansha’s Young Magazine toegestapt en heeft voorgesteld dat hij er een manga serie van gaat maken.
Hij kreeg te horen dat het het onwaarschijnlijk was dat het ging gebeuren vanwege de verschillende betrokken bedrijven maar 5 jaar later benaderde Capcom Kodansha met een voorstel voor een manga adaptie van Ace Attorney en werdt hij gekozen. Hij heeft niet alleen de serie Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney getekend maar ook Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth.
Beide titels zijn wereldwijd vertaald en verkocht.

Van alle pagina's dat hij heeft gemaakt voor de Ace Attorney serie, zijn er helaas vele originele pagina's verloren gegaan en zijn er nog maar 20 pagina's over in zijn prive collectie.
Hij wil er nu 10 van beschikbaar stellen voor zijn fans over de hele wereld en ze de kans geven om in het bezit te komen van een van de pagina's

Momenteel werkt hij aan 6 geserialiseerde manga en webtoons tegelijk als storyboard artist en doet alles nu alleen nog maar digitaal waardoor deze werken van zijn hand daadwerkelijk uniek zijn.

Elk werk zal op de achterkant gesigneerd zijn door de artist.

Achtergrondverhaal door de artist zelf verteld:

"De "Ace Attorney"-serie bestaat uit vijf volumes, terwijl "Ace Attorney Investigations" vier volumes omvat. De originele "Ace Attorney"-game werd uitgebracht in 2001, en ik raakte erdoor gefascineerd. Ik stelde me voor hoe interessant het zou zijn om het verhaal in een manga-formaat aan te passen. Ik benaderde een redacteur bij Kodansha’s Young Magazine om de mogelijkheid van een manga-adaptatie te bespreken. Echter, ik hoorde dat het onwaarschijnlijk was vanwege de verschillende betrokken bedrijven, en de tijd verstreek. Vijf jaar later, in 2006, benaderde Capcom Kodansha met een voorstel voor een manga-adaptatie van "Ace Attorney," en ik werd gekozen als illustrator. Dit was een beslissende wending van gebeurtenissen. 

De "Ace Attorney"- en "Ace Attorney Investigations"-series zijn gemaakt door de schrijver Kenji Kuroda en mij, Kazuo Maekawa. Kuroda is een misdaadromanschrijver en dit was zijn eerste klus als manga-scenarist. In die tijd was mijn tekenproces ongeveer 80% traditioneel en 20% digitaal. Ik maakte gebruik van traditionele methoden zoals pen, inkt en screentones. Ik drukte op maat gemaakte manga-manuscriptpapier met mijn naam en produceerde elke twee maanden meer dan 50 pagina's van de "Ace Attorney"-serie. 

Voor digitaal werk gebruikte ik voornamelijk Comic Studio voor karaktercorrecties en het combineren van karakters met achtergronden. Ik had vijf manga-assistenten die drie dagen per week in mijn studio werkten. Daarnaast werkte ik aan andere series voor verschillende uitgevers, wat resulteerde in ongeveer 120 pagina's manga per maand. Ik had een grote hoeveelheid manga-manuscriptpapier, maar door de uitdagingen van opslag, een overgang naar volledig digitaal werk en verhuizen naar het buitenland, heb ik 99% ervan weggegooid.
 Voor deze veiling heb ik zorgvuldig de resterende manuscriptpapieren geselecteerd en op de lijst gezet."
