"Only a Trail Across the Desert Sands"

This is a rare and beautifull sepia colored Curtis photogravure from 1909. Like all Curtis's work, it comes from his books and the accompanying Photogravure portfolios. These are all depicted as Curtis's work as photogravures. This photogravure comes from Curtis's book from 1909 and is in excellent condition (no tears, stains or what so ever). It is a very detailed and mystic scene.

Please be aware that a photogravure (or héliogravure) is not a silver gelatine or bromide print.

Edward Sheriff Curtis (1868-1952) was an American photographer and ethnologist whose work focused on the American West and on Native American people. Sometimes referred to as the "Shadow Catcher", Curtis traveled the United States to document and record the dwindling ways of life of various native tribes through photographs and audio recordings.
