The DVD-S2700 is Yamaha’s flagship DVD player, priced significantly higher than a high-definition HD DVD player.
Around €900. 

The connections on the DVD-S2700 clearly highlight its high-end capabilities. The standout feature is an HDMI output that supports upscaling to 720p, 1080i, and even 1080p resolutions. In terms of audio, it offers compatibility with DVD-Audio and SACD formats.

Yamaha ensures that the premium price of this player is well-justified by incorporating Cirrus Logic CS4398 192/24 audio DACs. As for the video DACs, they’re likely less significant since the upscaling HDMI output is the preferred option.

Yamaha pays homage to its audio legacy with the ‘Audio Direct’ mode, which disables all video circuitry to ensure the audio components operate without interference. Multimedia playback supports formats such as DivX VoD, JPEG, MP3, and WMA. The DVD-S2700 is compatible with nearly all disc types, with the exception of DVD-RAM discs.

The unit has been tested and fully functional. 

The remote control is missing but an after market one is available for less than €10 on Amazon.
