Here is a very nice and very uncommon German classic: a pyrolusite geode from the famous Ilfeld mines in Harz!

While Ilfeld is famous worldwide for elongated prisms of manganite, it also produced, much more rarely, very nice pyrolusite specimens.
Here you have a superb geometric geode completely lined with extremely lustrous metallic pyrolusite crystals, making for a stunning visual effect when you hold it as it reflects the light!

The back of the specimen consists in contrast of granular pyrolusite.

An excellent German pyrolusite from the XIXth century discoveries!
