A delicious citrus and juniper led gin, with a mild spiciness. 

Coming all of the way from New Zealand, you know this gin is going to be something special. Made on the southern tip of the North Island of New Zealand, this gin comes from Martinborough. It is here that the namesame of the gin comes from, a great cast-iron lighthouse , the Cape Palliser Lighthouse which is immortalised on every bottle. (It actually came all the way from the UK in 1896 when New Zealand was still a British colony).

Each bottle of contains a unique blend of botanicals, which master distiller Neil Catherall spent years researching before establishing Lighthouse Gin in 2005. These botanicals include fresh zest from New Zealand Navel oranges and Yen Ben lemons, which really makes this a special gin. (The other botanicals they use are juniper berries, coriander seed, cinnamon, almonds, cassia bark, orris root and liquorice root.)

The attention to details continues in the water they use. It travels from high in the Rimutaka Ranges, filtering down to a spring beside the breathtaking Wharekauhau Country Estate in Palliser Bay.

Lighthouse Gin has a very fine, pure and soft tone with individual botanical notes. The citrus and juniper are finely balanced giving a magnificent fresh, clean accents to start on the palate with the deeper spices adding length and complexity to the mid palate. Soft characters that hint at vanilla linger at the finish along with a strong botanical verve.

This really is a special gin, and has quickly become one of our favourites.



Perfect Serve
This is a great classic gin, with a citrus twist to enjoy as a gin and tonic. In a large glass filled with ice, add 50ml of the gin and 150ml of Fentimans Premium Indian Tonic. Garnish with a slice of lemon with this one, to enhance the citrus profile of the gin.

For a great cocktail option, try a Blackberry Basil Bramble. In a glass filled with crushed ice, add 50ml of the gin, along with 25ml of fresh lemon juice, and 25ml of Monin Sugar Syrup. Swirl 15ml of blackberry liqueur over the drink (to create a marbling). Garnish with blackberries and a basil leaf. Delicious!
