Bill Brandt (britannico, nato il 2 maggio 1904 - morto il 20 dicembre 1983) è stato un fotografo famoso per il suo lavoro di fotogiornalismo che documentava aspetti della vita britannica. Sebbene fosse nato ad Amburgo, in Germania, rinnegò le sue origini tedesche e affermò di essere nato a Londra. Nel 1929, iniziò la sua carriera di fotografo in Francia. Il paese era leader nel movimento, in cui molti artisti utilizzavano la fotografia come dichiarazione artistica invece che come semplice sforzo documentaristico. Mentre era a Parigi, Brandt fu influenzato dal lavoro di Man Ray e studiò nel suo studio. Al suo ritorno a Londra, nel 1931, Brandt conosceva bene il linguaggio del modernismo fotografico. Durante gli anni '30 pubblicò le sue importanti prime monografie The English at Home (1932) e A Night in London (1932) oltre a diventare un frequente collaboratore della stampa illustrata, in particolare Picture Post, Lilliput, Weekly Illustrated e Verve. Dopo la seconda guerra mondiale, lo stile di Brandt tornò a quello artistico ed espressionista che aveva imparato da giovane. Si concentrò su paesaggi, nudi e ritratti. From a personal collection, rare and wonderful original photogravura by Bill Brandt (1904 - 1983) from 1961 entitled: - Nude, Baie des Agnes France, October 1959 - beautifully printed on paper.

The photo is sold including its folder museum quality passepartout and certificate of authenticity.

Bill Brandt (British, born May 2, 1904–died December 20, 1983) was a photographer famous for his photojournalism work documenting aspects of British life. Although he was born in Hamburg, Germany, he disowned his German heritage and said that he was born in London. In 1929, he started his photography career in France. The country was a leader in the movement, where many artists were using photography as an artistic statement instead of just a documentary endeavor. While he was in Paris, Brandt was influenced by the work of Man Ray, and studied at his studio. Upon his return to London, in 1931, Brandt was well versed in the language of photographic modernism. During the 1930s he published his important early monographs The English at Home (1932) and A Night in London (1932) in addition to becoming a frequent contributor to the illustrated press, specifically Picture Post, Lilliput, Weekly Illustrated, and Verve. After World War II, Brandt’s style shifted back to the artistic, Expressionist style that he had learned as a young man. He focused on landscapes, nudes, and portraits. Brandt began a long exploration of the female nude, transforming the body through the angle and frame of the camera lens.
