Dit bronzen mes van autoriteit (regalia) werd tijdens rechtszittingen gebruikt om te beslissen over het lot van een veroordeelde. Het werd niet gebruikt om, zoals de identieke, van ijzer gemaakte exemplaren die de Lobala produceerde, te onthoofden, maar om het belang van gerechtigheid in de ontvouwing en in het oordeel ervan te onderstrepen.
Toen de rechter ter dood door onthoofding werd veroordeeld, zat hij op een houten stoel naast een jonge, soepele boom. Er werd een touw om zijn nek gebonden en vervolgens vastgemaakt aan de boom die naar hem toe was gebogen. De beul voerde vervolgens zijn ambt uit.

Het is een zeer zeldzaam object, van zeer goede gietijzeren kwaliteit en vrijwel uniek, dat toebehoorde aan de autoriteiten die bevoegd waren te beoordelen wie van dorp naar dorp reisde om recht te spreken.
