Mamod SP2 Stationary Live Steam Engine, Ready Built, Popular Beginner's Choice - Great Fun
Mamod was a toy manufacturer that was based in Britain that specialized in producing live steam Models until its closure in 2024. The company was founded in Birmingham in 1937 by Geoffrey Malins. The name "Mamod" is a combination of "Malins Models." Initially, the company manufactured stationary steam engines, which were originally sold under the 'Hobbies' brand.
Mamod steam engines are becoming increasingly popular for their simplicity of how a steam engine works - nothing can beat the smell and sound of a Mamod going. Considering I have done lots of articles on how to restore Mamods, I realise I haven't actually done an article on how to get your Mamod engine going! Therefore, here is the complete guide to making sure your Mamod steams up and runs as smoothly as possible.
