Here we have a superb late 19th Century oil on board by British artist Aubrey Ramus a pseudonym used by Francis E Jamieson. This painting features a bleak view of the Scottish Highlands with a lone white cottage set amongst the mountainous rocky landscape as a stream flows by. The painting is signed lower right A Ramos. A wonderful painting that would grace any wall in your home. 

Biography : 
Francis E. Jamieson (1895–1950) was commonly known for his Scottish landscapes and loch scenes. Jamieson lived on the south coast of England and was contracted to a large department store to supply them with his paintings. The artist often signed with pseudonyms such as Phil Hips, Graham Williams, W. Richards, H.B. Davis, Arnould Pienne, Graham Williams, J. H. Boel, F. Walters, Joel Owen, Henry Cooper, C. McKinley, H. James, Stanley Graham, Montgomery Ansell, Stanley Penn, A. de Perrin, C. Frater, W. Richards, up to 20 in total, in order to reach a wider audience, whilst also selling his work ‘door to door’. Jamieson’s work was often in a traditional Victorian style and his pictures were reproduced as postcards by Ajelli and Co of London in the 1920’s.
