Magnificent Keepsake Box, produced by Herend - Hungary in the most desired pattern “Rothschild” (Bird Collection), in perfect condition.

It is a rare rectangular form box with lid, hand painted in the well known Rothschild pattern with birds perched among branches and scattered butterflies, insects & bugs, gilt banding.

Lovely to display and useful on different occasions, this marvelous box with lid is a versatile piece, suitable for keeping personals, jewelry or precious “n’importe quoi”.

This pattern was first created in 1850 for the Rothschild family of Europe and is considered to be the epitome of hand painting on porcelain. 
Twelve different motifs portray a 19th century tale about Baroness Rothschild who lost her pearl necklace in the garden of her Vienna residence.
Several days later it was found by her gardener, who saw birds playing with it in a tree.

It is in pristine condition, Like New-Never Used, marked on the underside with Herend blue shield mark and numbered, First Choice, NO chips, NO cracks, NO repairs, please see the pictures as they are part of description.
