- Keith Haring (1958–1990) was an American artist and social activist whose visual language of bold lines, radiant figures, and pulsating energy became iconic in the 1980s. Originally emerging from the New York street art scene, Haring gained fame for his graffiti drawings in subway stations, which served as a democratic and accessible form of art. He later transitioned into galleries and public murals, but maintained a deep commitment to community and social issues, including AIDS awareness, anti-apartheid, and LGBTQ+ rights.

Haring’s work is instantly recognizable: vibrant, flat figures outlined in black, often dancing, barking, flying, or radiating energy. He merged pop art, graffiti, and cartoon aesthetics into a powerful visual code that was both playful and deeply political. His art communicated messages of hope, love, resistance, and human rights with clarity and universal appeal.

Untitled (Baby) creada en 1982, is one of Haring’s most iconic motifs: the “Radiant Baby”, a crawling infant emitting energy lines. Rendered in thick black lines over a light background and surrounded by frenetic symbols and patterns, it reflects Haring’s ability to fuse simplicity with intensity. The “Baby” was a recurring symbol in his work, representing purity, potential, and the future a hopeful counterbalance to the often turbulent themes he explored.

In Untitled (Baby), the central figure radiates outward in a vibrant maze of marks and energy waves. This piece embodies the raw vitality and immediacy of Haring’s early work, combining street art style with the philosophical weight of new life and collective movement.

Keith Haring's market has grown exponentially since his death at the age of 31. His works now regularly sell for millions at auction, with major pieces reaching over $6 million.

The “Radiant Raby” motif is one of his most celebrated symbols and appears on everything from museum walls to global fashion brands.

Haring’s legacy lives on through the Keith Haring Foundation, which supports arts education and AIDS related causes, and his work remains a symbol of creativity, activism, and joyful resistance.
