Set of 5 Traditional Japanese Hand Saws

Item Description
This is a set of five traditional Japanese saws (nokogiri), ideal for woodworking, joinery, or tool collectors. The set includes:

Three double-edged saws (ryoba)
One single-edged saw with a replaceable blade
One folding single-edged saw with a dual-blade structure
The saws are made with high-quality Japanese steel and wooden handles, with some wrapped in rattan or plastic cord for enhanced grip. These pull saws cut on the pull stroke, allowing for greater control, thinner blades, and finer kerfs compared to Western saws.

One ryoba saw with a dark brown handle has a chipped tooth on one side, but all other teeth appear intact. The folding saw features two blades that can be stored inside the wooden handle, and one saw includes a detachable blade mechanism.

Notable markings and makers include:

- "Jun" (順)
- "Shinshu Tamagawa" (信州玉川)
- "Miyano Sanshiro" (宮野三四郎作)
- "Eitaro" (栄太郎)
- One brand is unmarked

These tools show signs of use and aging—rust spots, patina, and wear—but remain functional or collectible. The fine steel can be restored or sharpened for continued use.


Brand
Jun, Miyano Sanshiro, Shinshu Tamagawa, and Eitaro are traditional Japanese toolmakers, often producing hand-forged blades for professional craftsmen.
The folding and replaceable-blade saws are more modern in structure but follow the classic Japanese pull-saw design.
