John Laurance

A very large, bold and beautifully sculpted ceramic elephant in Art Deco style, finished in an elegant ivory-toned crackle glaze. With its raised trunk and geometric base, this piece captures the confident lines and stylized movement that defined Deco design in the 1920s and 30s. 
While the probable model originates from the 1920s and is reminiscing to other elephants created in the same period, this example is a reproduction made in the noughties.  
Regardless, it is still an impressive decorative object, offering a touch of vintage glamour on a console, mantel or display cabinet.
