Description from the seller
Editorial: La Fabrica
Binding: Hardcover with jacket
Language: Spanish
Pages: 382
Measurements: 25 x 33 cm
La Fábrica Editorial has published Isabel Muñoz. Masterpieces, a book that includes more than 220 photographs by the photographer taken since the beginning of her career. It offers a deep and comprehensive analysis of her life and work, and according to Isabel Muñoz herself, 'It is my best book so far.'
This publication coincides with the exhibition Isabel Muñoz. Love and Ecstasy, which is part of the Official Section of PHotoEspaña 2010 and can be seen at the Sala Canal de Isabel II of the Madrid Community. The work tells the story of Isabel Muñoz through reproductions of her most important photographs, including both unpublished or little-known works and those that have earned her international recognition.
The selection was made from the photographer's archives specifically for this book, and it also includes a compilation of her reports published in major European publications.
Reading these 400 pages reveals the artist's art and life through critical essays by Gérard Macé, Alain Mingam, and Christian Caujolle, a beautiful interview conducted by Eduardo Momeñe, and a detailed illustrated chronology written by Lola Huete Machado.
Her work is imbued with a distinctive style that allows her signature to be recognized in each of her images. It is based on the investigation and exploration of the human body through dance initially, and social denunciation later. The geographies of men and women, covered in art, uncover the worlds hidden beneath skin and eyes.
Isabel Muñoz (Barcelona, 1951) was awarded the Bartolomé Ros Prize at PHotoEspaña 2009 and received the Gold Medal for Merit in Fine Arts in 2009. She has also won two World Press Photo awards. Among her solo exhibitions are those held at the Centro Cultural de la Villa in Madrid (2006), the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes in Havana (2006), and the Casa de América in Madrid (2007).
