You are bidding on a very fine and rare old italian 4/4 violin, labeled: Gaetano Vinaccia Neapoli Rua Catalana N 46. 1826.
The instrument remains in good condition with some small repaired cracks on top. The whole length of the violin is 592 mm and the back 360 mm. The width of the upper bouts: 167 mm; middle bouts: 114 mm; lower bouts: 208 mm
Materials: very nice two pieces narrow flamed back with matched sides and scroll and nice high grained spruce top. Brown color varnish with tears and wears over golden amber ground. New boxwood set up. The sound of this instrument is of a charming character, warm and matured in its lower registers, bright and sweet in the upper registers.
