Juan Antonio Rodríguez

This stylised illustration was created by Aubrey Beardsley in 1893 to accompany the first edition of Oscar Wilde's Salome. Re-printed in Denmark in 1969 by Minerva A/S in the size 85 x 62cm. 

Beardsley is remembered for his monochrome ink pieces investigating the absurd and the obscene, and was instrumental in the development of the Art Nouveau movement of the late 19th century.

Condition: Ruffled edges, creases, small tear to one corner and one tear in the poster´s edge, a smaller tear on the left side, see pictures.

This lot will be carefully packaged and sent by registered and insured mail in a strong cardboard poster roll.
