Up for auction is a full size (4/4) beautiful violin, labeled "Jakobus Stainer ex Absam prope Oenipontum fecit Cremona".
Stainer copy violin made in Mittenwald, Germany circa 1900. A great sounding fiddle! Tone is round and full but also focused. Very handsome wood selection.
Straight medium grained spruce top, brown varnish. The beautiful one piece maple back measures 35,6 cm.
Rich brown color varnish shows an amazing wooden choice.
The total length of the violin is 59,7 cm.
Upper barrel: 168 mm.
Middle bouts: 111 mm.
Lower bouts: 206 mm.
This violin is in wonderful condition, deeply restored, new boxwood set up, new strings (Obligato), new soundpost, new professional bridge and new chinrest.
The sound is rich, powerful, well-balanced, warm, deeply responsive.
