A lovely 103 page photographic documentary of the lives of ferrymen working aboard a small ferry in the Inner Hebrides of Scotland, namely between the Isle of Jura and Islay by the photographer Gary McKay.  The book measures 32.2cm x 24.3cm and contains lots of stunning photos as well as two essay introductions based on a very successful exhibition fo the same name.  

In the words of the Arts Critic Michael Russell: "The Ferrymen takes the familiar and presents it anew. Forget Dame Ellen MacArthur - a pilot on the Jura ferry does an equivalent distance four times in his lifetime. A remarkable and visionary work - Michael Rusell"

Grainy and gritty, just like the lives of the men and ships it captures, "The Ferrymen" is a minor jewel of a book. A limited publication that accompanied a photographic exhibition. Only 200 copies printed, so a very limited edition.  This copy is generally in excellent condition but does have some ink marks to the lower corner of various pages - please see photos for examples.
