Clemens Briels, Sprong, hand-signed silkscreen in excellent condition, limited edition 147/200 from 2002, created in the Netherlands, framed, 62 x 56 cm with frame, by Galerie.
Description from the seller
Clemens Briels, born in Son in 1946, is a highly sought-after artist at home and abroad. His artworks are included in various renowned art collections and he was elected as the first Dutch artist to be an Official Olympic Artist for the Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City in 2002.
Behind Clemens Briels' artworks lies always a story; his works are small anecdotes from a counter-society. Briels developed his own style, ANTIPODISM: he envisions the opposite of the stereotype, the learned. The viewer is confronted with a different, fantastical view of everyday things and is often surprised.
Briels imagines experiences he has gained in the Orient, the Caribbean, and North and South America. In addition, traditional Central and South American music is an almost inexhaustible source of inspiration. The Cuban son, mambo, merengue and the souk, the musical tones poured over with a light erotic sauce, compel him to create intriguing paintings.
Clemens Briels' artworks are never bound to time and reflect universal themes, cosmopolitan imaginations of daily life. Briels translates his experiences in his own way, in his own unique fantasy world. Color is the instrument, the story is his message. The artist stimulates the viewer's imagination by showing different images than we are expected to see. Because we have stereotypes that are learned rather than imaginative interpretations of the surrounding things and events, the viewer is met with surprises.
Dimensions with frame: 62 x 56 cm
Dimensions without frame: 33 x 29 cm
Viewing is of course possible. In addition, we have our own in-house framing workshop, which is celebrating its 85th anniversary this year. Furthermore, we make use of restorers from the professional association: 'Restauratoren Nederland'. If you would like to use this service, we would of course be happy to hear from you.
