Questo Neumann KM84i è della prima serie “Silver”, ed è completamente originale.
Il microfono cardioide a diaframma piccolo KM 84 (la “i” indica la connessione XLR) è un condensatore FET, fu costruito dal 1966 rimanendo uno dei più grandi successi nella storia di Neumann. La risposta in frequenza uniforme del suo pattern polare lo rendono un microfono molto ricercato per tutti i generi e gli strumenti. 
E’ stato il primo al mondo realizzato con la tecnologia di alimentazione phantom a 48V.
L’interruttore di attenuazione da 10 dB consente l'uso del microfono fino ad una pressione sonora di 130 dB senza distorsioni.
L’eccezionale costanza nella risposta polare fuori asse dell’eccellente capsula KK64 è ottenuta grazie ad un innovativo design della piastra posteriore sviluppato da Neumann nel 1964: le otto scanalature intersecanti consentono al suono di essere distribuito in modo più uniforme sul diaframma.
Nel 1992 ne è cessata la produzione e sostituito da KM184, ma i due microfoni hanno un suono sufficientemente diverso da far sì che il KM 84 rimanesse lo standard in base al quale vengono giudicati i moderni microfoni FET “a matita”.
È corredato dal manuale originale (fotocopia) ed è fornito senza scatola.
Sempre utilizzato in studio di registrazione, è normalmente funzionante. Le condizioni estetiche dovute al tempo ed all’uso sono visibili nelle foto. Viene spedito con tracciatura ed assicurazione tramite corriere internazionale o Poste Italiane.
