Omega, known for its legendary timepieces, ceased production of these limited editions in 2019, making the Japan Racing Edition even more desirable for collectors and enthusiasts. Designed with a robust 42mm stainless steel case, this Speedmaster exudes power and durability. The striking gray dial, accented with bold orange and red details, pays homage to the vibrant world of Japanese motorsports. The use of racing dials — featuring orange, red, and white markings reminiscent of the curb stones on racetracks — adds a distinctive and dynamic flair that sets this model apart from other Speedmasters. The Japan Racing Edition is powered by the renowned Omega Caliber 1861, a manual-wound chronograph movement famed for its reliability and precision. This robust movement, with a 48-hour power reserve, ensures the watch remains accurate through every adventure. The watch’s tachymeter scale on the black ceramic bezel allows for the measurement of speed, a nod to its racing inspiration and the Speedmaster's roots. Unique to this model is the inclusion of an orange central chronograph hand, sub-dial hands, and the Omega logo, a rare departure from the brand’s traditional silver or blue branding. These orange accents, combined with the white hour markers and hands filled with luminous material, offer exceptional readability in all lighting conditions. The dial design, inspired by the Speedmaster Mark II Racing model, features a unique “racing track” with five ticks between each minute marker, allowing for precise timekeeping down to the second when using the legendary 861 chronograph movement.
