A beautiful hi-fi AM/FM stereo tuner with an analogue dial from the famous Blue series. With a radio station frequency Servo Lock circuit and Touch-Sensor tuning. It unlocks very fast, when touching the tuning knob – very impressive feeling. With Signal strength and Tuning meters, Stereo and FM Locked indicators, a rotary Output Level control, switches for Function (FM/AM), AM IF Band (Wide/Narrow), MPX Noise Filter, FM Muting/Mode, a built-on adjustable AM Ferrite bar antenna, terminals for AM and FM antenna and Ground, RCA phono sockets for Multipath Output, Fixed and Variable Line Output, Touch Sensor gain switch (High/Low), Voltage Selector, AC outlet and an FM De-Emphasis switch (25µs, 50µS, 75µS) on the S and S/G models.
It also has a feature that I have not seen on a tuner in the past which is convenient. There are four moveable markers placed just under the tuning dial which enable you to select four of your favorite stations and then just tune to the marker to find them -- the precursor to the preset button.
The TX-7800 is a heavily built tuner with excellent DX'ing capabilities, and a warm articulate sound that one can listen to for hours. The Pioneer sounds spacious in soundstage width and depth... its presentation is relaxed, with beautiful tonality. It tends towards warmth, however it does not sound congested. I’m particularly found of listening to classical broadcasts, because I feel that the orchestra finally has some room to breath. There is a magically cohesive sound in the presentation that the Pioneer offers... 
The wooden cover was recently renovated with new side panels and a new veneer on the top. All light bulbs were replaced by LED and it shines again. All functions work well, as should be. The front panel looks ok, there Is one scratch, about 15mm long between volume and tunning knobs, seen on the photos. All functions are working normally. The dimensions with new side panels are (WHD) 460 x 155 x 390mm and weigh about 8.5kg. I replaced the old power supply plug with a special one.
