◆10 sen 拾銭 / pigeon 鳩 Hato
Size: 5×10.5 cm

It was issued in 1947 and discontinued in 1953.
On the right side of the front side is "pigeon" , a symbol of peace, and on the left side of the back side is the "National Diet Building", a symbol of democracy.
Since it was produced during the chaotic period immediately after the war, it is characterized by its crude printing with no watermark.
In addition, since it was printed by several private printers, there are differences in the finish of each.

"Hakko Ichiu 八紘一宇" means to make the country of Japan like one house.
In other words, it was used as one of the mottos for the construction of the Greater East Asia Co-prosperity Sphere during World War II.
The banknotes were first issued in 1944, during Japan's war, and were discontinued in 1953.

The 5 sen was a Bank of Japan note issued after the Meiji Restoration and used as a substitute for supplementary money, first issued in November 1944, and banned from circulation on December 31, 1953. The Samurai astride a horse is Masashige Kusunoki, a military commander from the late Kamakura period (1185-1333) to the Nanbokucho period (1392-1333).
