Bowmore Islay Single Malt Whisky is set to strengthen its global top 10 position. In a sophisticated plan, packaging and image will be changed and the company will focus on a series of exclusive traditional top whiskies. This new and long-awaited Bowmore Tempest is unlike any other Bowmore single malt. As the name suggests, the taste of Bowmore Tempest captures the rough and stormy aromas and flavours of the sea. The whisky is produced in small quantities and matured in bourbon casks. The maturation in these casks takes place in the old vaults of the oldest distillery (1779) on the island of Islay, just a few metres away from the powerful waves of Loch Indaal. The whisky from this small batch is non-chill filtered and only a limited amount of bottles have been bottled. It is great that Bowmore Distillery has joined the ranks of many independent bottlers who have bottled some wonderful young and very fine Bowmore’s in recent years. This Bowmore Tempest is even a little sweeter than most bottlings from the independent bottlers.

The Bowmore Tempest series comprises six limited-edition batches of 10-year-old single malt whiskies, each matured in first-fill bourbon casks and bottled at cask strength. Released annually from 2009 to 2015, these expressions showcase Bowmore's signature balance of peat smoke, maritime influence, and fruity complexity. Here's an overview of each batch:

**Batch 1 (2009)**
- **ABV:** 55.3%
- **Tasting Notes:** Fresh peat and vegetal notes on the nose, complemented by white pepper and citrus. The palate offers peat smoke, earthy tones, and prominent lemon citrus, leading to a finish of salt, lemon, and smoke.

**Batch 2 (2010)**
- **ABV:** 56.0%
- **Tasting Notes:** Sweet and clean nose with vanilla, resin, and hints of fruit and peat. The taste is very peaty with vanilla, fresh wood, and slight musty peat, culminating in a finish of peat, vanilla, and smoke.

**Batch 3 (2011)**
- **ABV:** 55.6%
- **Tasting Notes:** Mealy nose with notes of pancake batter, dry wood shavings, and smoke. The palate starts balanced but tight, revealing parma violets and a hint of soapiness, finishing firm and lightly smoky.

**Batch 4 (2012)**
- **ABV:** 55.1%
- **Tasting Notes:** More expressive than previous batches, with a sweet nose showcasing bourbon cask influence, vanilla, and citrus. The palate offers peat smoke, earthy tones, and a balance of citrus and spices, leading to a long, smoky finish.

**Batch 5 (2013)**
- **ABV:** 55.9%
- **Tasting Notes:** Maintains the series' character with a nose of sweet vanilla, peat smoke, and maritime notes. The palate is rich with peat, vanilla, and fresh wood, finishing with lingering smoke and subtle fruitiness.

**Batch 6 (2015)**
- **ABV:** 54.9%
- **Tasting Notes:** Soft initial nose with semi-dried pineapple, coal dust, and candied grapefruit, evolving to rich vanilla fudge and tropical fruits. The palate is soft with dried citrus, minerality, and coal dust, leading to a finish of dried citrus, chimney soot, and vanilla sponge cake.

Each batch of the Bowmore Tempest series offers a unique yet consistent exploration of the distillery's maritime and peaty character, enhanced by the influence of first-fill bourbon cask maturation.
