Onbekend Graphoscoop Enlarger
A graphoscope is actually a large magnifying glass, with which details of photographs can be viewed. Many graphoscopes were also combined with a stereoscope; the stereographoscope. This is a British invention that was patented in 1864 by Charles John Rowsell. The stereographoscope has 3 lenses; one large lens that works as a magnifying glass for viewing photographs and 2 small lenses for viewing stereo photographs. With a stereographoscope, the lenses cannot be focused; the image is only focused by sliding the photograph. The characteristic of the graphoscope is the ability to completely fold the device into a wooden box. Many of the stereoscopes were made by Mattey.
