Vega Sicilia Único 2013
The Vineyard

Bordering the Duero River, the 210 hectares of vineyards are divided into three varieties: Tempranillo (also known as Tinto Fino), Cabernet Sauvignon, and Merlot. 140 hectares of this production are reserved for the Valbuena and Único vintages. The entire vineyard is sustainably managed.

Coming from exceptional terroirs with a total area of ​​40 hectares, whose vines have an average age of 33 years and are planted at an altitude between 700 and 900 meters on clay-limestone soils, this 2013 Unico from the Vega Sicilia winery only reveals itself after at least 10 years of aging in the winery's cellars. This legendary Ribera del Duero wine is one of the best wines in Spain and the world.

Winemaking and Aging

This iconic wine was made in French oak barrels (some new), American oak barrels, and large wooden vats.

Characteristics and Tasting Tips for Vega Sicilia's Unico 2013
Taste

Intense aromas of fruit (blackcurrant, blackberry, blueberry) and toast, as well as cocoa powder and mocha. Upon aeration, notes of aromatic herbs (sage, thyme, dried rosemary), incense, and gingerbread are revealed.

Palate
Full and expressive, the palate releases delicious fruity and grilled notes until a lingering finish.
