Richard Smeets (Gennep, 1955) is een Nederlandse beeldend kunstenaar, bekend om zijn lyrisch semi-abstracte schilderijen en beeldhouwwerken. Hij volgde van 1973 tot 1978 een opleiding aan de Academie Beeldende Kunsten Maastricht en ontwikkelde zich tot een kunstenaar met internationale erkenning.

Smeets' werk is thematisch opgebouwd in drie perioden. In de eerste periode staat de vrouw centraal. De tweede periode is geïnspireerd door zijn reizen naar Maleisië en Indonesië, het geboorteland van zijn moeder. In de derde periode richt hij zich op het Hollandse landschap. 

Zijn schilderijen worden gekenmerkt door een gelaagde werkwijze, waarbij hij indrukken omzet in herinneringen, vervolgens in dromen, en uiteindelijk in beeld. Hij werkt vanuit zijn atelier in Heijen en zijn werk is tentoongesteld in binnen- en buitenland, waaronder Nederland, Duitsland, Maleisië, Indonesië en de Verenigde Staten.

Bezichtiging is uiteraard mogelijk. Daarnaast beschikken wij over onze eigen in-house lijstenmakerij, die zijn 85e jubileumjaar viert. Verder maken wij gebruik van restauratoren uit de brancheorganisatie: 'Restauratoren Nederland'. Mocht u hiervan gebruiken willen maken dan horen wij dit uiteraard graag.
