A Fine Female Luba Kikashi Mask

The so-called kifwebe masks embody supernatural forces. The secret society Bwadi bwa kifwebe used them to avert disasters or other threats. The masks were complemented by a woven costume and a long raffia beard, which were danced during various ceremonies. They are worn by men who act as police at the request of a leader or to intimidate the enemy. Here, we can attribute it to the artistic corpus Luba, specifically given its circular shape and soft curves. Female kikashi mask.
