I am offering for auction a quite fabulous large early 19th Century oil on panel attributed to the American artist George Cochran Lambdin. The artist is renowned for his fantastic flower displays especially his paintings of roses grown in his garden. In fact he was the first American artist to specialise in painting roses generally against a dark background either in a vase or off the vine as this one is. The painting depicts a beautiful colourful display of a handful of roses. The painting is signed lower left in red. 
Biography: 
Lambdin regularly exhibited at the National Academy of design and at the Universal Exposition in Paris in 1867.  His works are housed in important public collections, including The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; National Gallery of Art, Washington, D. C.; Museum of Fine Arts, Boston; Denver Art Museum, Colorado; Yale University Art Gallery.

A stunning colourful well constructed painting that would grace any wall in your home.

In fairly good condition for its age, with a slight mark running down top to bottom right hand side. Not visible as you stand and view the artwork. The painting comes framed. Please view the photographs as part of the description. The frame is a gift no compensation given if damaged in transit.
