This elegant single-handle jug made of maize-yellow glass with a fine spout is an artistic german high-quality reproduction of a Roman jug from the 3rd–4th century AD. The original piece, inventory number D 3526, is part of the collection of the Romano-Germanic Museum in Cologne.

The jug stands approximately 150 mm tall and bears the model designation 213. Like all historical reproductions by the renowned Cologne glass workshop CCAA, it was handcrafted in 1979. Especially striking is the neck area, beautifully decorated with delicate spiral threads – a typical feature of Roman glass art, recreated here with great craftsmanship.

The CCAA Glass Gallery in Cologne is well-known for its high-quality replicas of ancient glass vessels, made in close collaboration with museums. Since the late 1970s, they have been producing mouth-blown pieces using traditional techniques, admired by collectors of studio glass and historic craftsmanship around the world. While exact production numbers are not known, these limited reproductions are sought-after collector’s items due to their quality and close reference to museum originals.

This piece combines historical charm with fine German glassmaking artistry and would make a wonderful addition to any collection of ancient replicas or high-quality glassware.
