This violin bears a label reading “Nicolaus Amatus in Cremona 16..” followed by “Made in Germany,” clearly identifying it as a German copy of a model after Nicola Amati, the famous 17th-century Cremonese violin maker. The instrument follows the Amati style, with soft arching, elegant outlines, and relatively wide, gracefully curved f-holes with narrow stems. It was made in Germany, likely in the Markneukirchen or Mittenwald region, during the late 19th or early 20th century—an era when such workshop-produced violins were widely manufactured for export. It is not an original Amati, but a historically styled German reproduction.
