Regarding this sculpture:
This captivating artwork presents two stylized, monochrome figures, one large and one small, engaging in a symbolic exchange around a miniature Earth. The figures, with their soft forms and expressionless faces—characterized by their round heads and cross-shaped eyes—evoke reflection on generational transmission and environmental responsibility. The larger figure's leaning posture toward the smaller one, who reaches out to receive the globe, creates a fluid and harmonious movement, expressing a transfer of hope and knowledge. The limited palette, dominated by shades of gray with a vibrant splash of color on the Earth, draws attention to the work's central symbol. Through its clean design and imposing forms, this sculpture challenges our collective role as stewards of our blue planet.
The exhibition in Qatar:
After unveiling his public art installation "THE PROMISE" in the Dadu Gardens of the Qatar Museum, KAWS is launching a new series of vinyl figures and posters for collectors.
The grandiose figures standing in Dadu's gardens are depicted as two KAWS COMPANION figures in grey and appear to bear similarities to the "FAMILY" COMPANION figures, the larger version of which appears to be passing a globe-shaped sphere to the childlike version.
The character is one of Dadu's features, which is quite appropriate since it is Qatar's children's museum.
Fans can now own a replica of the installation. The vinyl figures are available in three different colors: gray, brown, and black. In all figures, the globe is the same, featuring the traditional blue and green design.
