Eine große alte orthodox Ikone, die den Apostel Paulus (auch bekannt als Paulus von Tarsus) darstellt. Er war der bedeutendste Missionar des Urchristentums und einer der ersten christlichen Theologen.

Maße: 53 x 40 x 3 cm 

Apostel Paulus oder Paulus von Tarsus ist eine berühmte und heilige Persönlichkeit im Christentum. Er wurde von Gott selbst ausgewählt, um im Neuen Testament und in orthodoxen Hymnen den Platz von Judas Iskariot einzunehmen. Das Buch, das der heilige Paulus in dieser Ikone bei sich trägt, repräsentiert seine Briefe im Neuen Testament der Bibel.
Sein Gewand/Umhang hat die Farbe Rot, die in der orthodoxen Ikonographie die Farbe der Menschheit ist. 
Er war der Apostel der Heiden und ist auch der Schutzpatron der griechischen Polizei. Die orthodoxe Kirche feiert sein Andenken jedes Jahr am 29. Juni. 

Aus meiner Privatsammlung, ein besonderes Stück für Sammler.

Die gut erhaltene Ikone ist mit zwei Rückseiten-Sponki und insgesamt in gutem Zustand mit Altersspuren.
