This is a rare example of Helen Sear's exquisite work titled DAY FOR NIGHT 2002.  In excellent condition the print measures 40.6cm x 30.5cm and is in excellent condition.  Printed on Fujicolor professional paper it is signed and dated by the photographer verso.  

For this work Sear has taken the negative and reproduced it as a mirror image of weeds standing vertically out of the earth. Because she has reverse-printed the sky as black and the earth as white, an eerie tranquility pervades the image. The title refers to a film technique in which night scenes are shot during the day with dramatic lighting for effect.

Helen Sear (b.1955) came to prominence in the 1991 British Council exhibition De-Composition: Constructed Photography in Britain, which toured extensively throughout Latin America and Eastern Europe and in  2014  Sear was selected to represent Wales at the 56th Venice Biennale 2015 and became the first woman to represent Wales with a solo exhibition.  Sear's work explores the materiality of vision, often combining hand drawn or erased elements with photography to disrupt the conventional fixed-point perspective associated with the medium. She also works with moving image and mixed media installations.

Sears works can be found in several private and public collection, including National Museum Wales, Glynn Vivian Museum and Gallery Swansea Wales, Ernst & Young, Victoria and Albert Museum, Arts Council of Wales, Arts Council of Great Britain and the British Council and recent exhibitions include Natural Fantastic, Martin Asbæk Gallery, Copenhagen, Denmark,  Coldframe, Caetera Fumus, Winter Stack,Centre for British Photography, London, United Kingdom and in Waiting, James Hyman Gallery, London United Kingdom
