Le Décaméron est un recueil de Nouvelles écrit par Giovanni Boccace entre 1349 et 1353. L'oeuvre est composée de cent Nouvelles, réparties sur dix jours (d'où le nom "Décaméron" venant du grec signifiant "dix journées"). 
Ces Nouvelles sont racontées par un groupe de dix jeunes gens (sept femmes et trois hommes) qui se sont retirés dans une villa à la campagne pour échappe à la peste qui frappe Florence...
L'oeuve est connue pour ses récits variés, allant de l'amour et de l'aventure à la satire et à la critique sociale.
Le Décaméron est considéré comme un chef d'ouvre de la Littérature italienne  -
