Dead Reality” is a collection of photographs by Nobuyoshi Araki, one of Japan's leading photographers. This book is a collection of photographs taken using corroded film, and although they are snaps of everyday life, the images take on a horrifying aspect due to the corrosion. Life and death always haunt Araki's work. While some of his nudes are vivid as if to represent life, art critic Shunji Ito has described Araki as having “a strange inclination to lean toward the presence of death. Araki himself, in his book “Journey to Photography,” states that “photography is a copy of my reality,” and that he calls the relationship between himself and his partner “my reality or death reality. In this book, too, there seems to be a sense of danger that darkens the everyday. The following is from the publisher: “Is this the underworld or a world of nightmares?
