Orrefors – Moderne kristallen karaf met sterling zilveren montuur (.925) – gesigneerd, Zweden, circa 1970

Een krachtig voorbeeld van Scandinavisch design uit het midden van de 20e eeuw: deze moderne karaf van Orrefors, vervaardigd rond 1970, combineert de heldere strakke lijnen van hoogwaardig kristal met een subtiel en smaakvol montuur in massief sterling zilver (.925). Het geheel ademt rust, functionaliteit en elegante eenvoud – precies zoals we van het Zweedse Orrefors gewend zijn.

De karaf heeft een gestileerd silhouet, met een geometrische precisie die het licht prachtig laat spelen in het glas. De zilveren montuur, aan de hals vormt een geraffineerd accent en benadrukt de overgang tussen vorm en functie. Op de onderzijde is het stuk gesigneerd, wat de authenticiteit en verzamelwaarde bevestigt.

Orrefors, opgericht in 1898, groeide in de 20e eeuw uit tot een van de leidende namen in Scandinavisch glasdesign. Met ontwerpers als Vicke Lindstrand en Nils Landberg verwierf het merk internationale faam, met een stijl die minimalisme en vakmanschap naadloos samenbracht.

Deze karaf verkeert in goede staat, met een helder kristallen lichaam en een onbeschadigd zilveren montuur. Een stijlvolle keuze voor liefhebbers van modernistisch design, Scandinavisch glaswerk of sierlijke eenvoud met inhoud.
