Rare Bing tinplate toy train – LNER 8851 – circa 1914 – Germany – Gauge 0 (25 mm) – Mechanically powered

A particularly beautiful set consisting of:

1x Green steam locomotive 'LNER 8851' with tender (presumably wind-up, mechanism present but not tested for operation)

3 LNER passenger carriages, all marked '2568', in brown with a black roof, with a two-tone class marking (first and third class).

Details:

Manufacturer: Gebrüder Bing (Bing Werke), Germany

Year: about 1914

Material: tinplate (tinplate)

Track: Spoor 0 (O gauge), with a gauge width of approximately 25 mm.

Drive: Mechanical (spring motor)

Inscriptions: 'LNER 8851' and 'LNER 2568' (London and North Eastern Railway – UK)

Marked at the bottom with 'Made in Germany', and Bing logo visible on the tender.

Condition:

Good vintage condition, with signs of use and age, surface rust on wheels/axles, and paint wear present.

The original winding mechanism is present but has not been tested for functionality.

Couplings, axles, and wheels are mostly original.

One carriage may be missing a small hook.

Dimensions:

Locomotive with tender together: approximately 22 cm long.

Carriage: approx. 10 cm long

Height location: approximately 7.5 cm
