Exploring Jerusalem: 10 books set.  
These books describe archaeological, historical, and cultural explorations of this intriguing city from Bartlett's visits in the 1840s till the excavations and research of the 1980s. The set consists of: 
W. H. Bartlett. Walks About Jerusalem: Walks about the City and Environs of Jerusalem, Summer 1842. Jerusalem: Canaan Publishing House, 1974 (a Facsimile Edition of Bartlett's 1844 book). Hardcover, dust jacket, viii + 255 pp., illustrations in the text and plates, one folding map. Dimensions: 24 x 17 cm.
Condition: Clean pages with mild tanning throughout. Tightly bound. Pen inscriptions removed from the front endpaper, ex libris removed from the title page, with the lower right corner missing. Boards are clean. The dust jacket has minor edgewear and chips. The corners are intact.  
Michael Avi-Yonah. The Madaba Mosaic Map. Jerusalem: The Israel Exploration Society, 1954. First edition. Green cloth hardcover, 80 pages, two plates and illustrations in the text, 10 plates at the end. Dimensions: 29 x 21 cm. 
The Sixth Century Mosaic found at Madaba in Jordan is famous as the earliest known map of Jerusalem. The Cardo (the main street), the centrepiece of the map, was excavated in 1974. The map indicates Byzantine-period churches and other sites. The book is a detailed description of the map. Bonus: Two paper clips with articles about the map from the Jerusalem Post newspaper of 1976 and 1977 were found between the pages. 
Condition: Clean pages and plates with minimal tanning throughout, except on the plates. Tightly bound. Pen inscriptions removed from the front endpaper. Boards are clean. The corners are intact.

First edition. The second edition was published by Yale University Press in 1976. 
Hardcover with color photo, 136 pages, four color plates, numerous b/w illustrations, photos, and plans in the text. Dimensions: 26.5 x 20.5 cm. 
The book explores excavations conducted from 1968 to 1974, uncovering Jerusalem's history from biblical times. 
Condition: Clean pages with foxing visible on a few of the first and last pages. Tightly bound. Pen inscription to front endpaper. The corners are slightly bumped.

Reprinted from the book originally published in 1880, as "Picturesque Palestine, Sinai, and Egypt." Two-page introduction to the facsimile reprint, 120 pages. Dust jacket over black cloth. Black and white illustrations throughout the text and on separate plates. Dimensions: 28 x 22 cm.

This is a Facsimile and Limited Edition of Bartlett's 1855 book. Two-page introduction to the facsimile reprint, viii + 202 pages. Dust jacket over blue cloth. Black and white illustrations throughout. Dimensions: 24 x 17 cm.

Ely Schiller, ed. The First Photographs of Jerusalem: The Old City. Jerusalem: Ariel Publishing House, 1978. First edition.  
Gilt dust jacket over blue cloth hardcover, 252 pages. The book features 256 black-and-white photographs of the Old City of Jerusalem, taken between 1856 and 1916. Dimensions: 28 x 22 cm.  
The editor attempted to collect all known early photographs of the Old City of Jerusalem. The complete list of sources is presented. Highlights: Jerusalem from the Mount of Olives, City walls and Mamilla Pool, Moslem celebration at Jaffa Gate, Jewish Rabbi, The Austrian army arrives in Jerusalem (1915), the Jewish community expecting Wilhelm II (1898), the Mosque of Al Aksa, the Citadel (1865), British troops entering Jerusalem, etc.  
Condition: The dust jacket has minor edge wear and tears. Otherwise, fine. 
James B. Pritchard, (ed.). Solomon & Sheba. London - New York: Phaidon, 1974. First edition.  
Hardcover, dust jacket over blue cloth, 160 pages, numerous photos and illustrations. Dimensions: 23 x 18 cm. 
King Solomon met the Queen of Sheba in Jerusalem. The rest of the story is in the Bible (1 Kings 10). For a simplified version, refer to the libretto of the opera "Queen of Sheba" by Karl Goldmark, 1875. This book, however, explores a much broader topic of relations between ancient Judea and other nations, presenting the story of the Queen of Sheba in Judaic, Islamic, Christian, and Ethiopian traditions.
Condition: Fine, but with some pen marks on the pages.

Hardcover, dust jacket, 172 pages, color photos and text illustrations. Arnoldo Mondadori Editore, S.p.A. Printed and bound in Italy. Dimensions: 29 x 23 cm. 
This is an engrossing history of the Dome of the Rock mosque on the Temple Mount, also known as Haram al-Sharif in Jerusalem, one of the world's most fiercely contested pieces of real estate. Built in 640 as a mosque on the site of the Second Temple, it was turned into a church by the crusaders, turned into a mosque again by Sulaiman the Magnificent, captured by the Israeli troops in 1967, and returned to a Muslim waqf that same year.   
Condition: Clean pages, tightly bound. Boards are clean. The dust jacket is nearly intact. The " Ex libris" was removed from the title page without damaging the text. The hardcover corners are intact.   
Museum of the Greek-Orthodox Patriarchate in Jerusalem. Jerusalem 1985. Paperback, 100 pages. A description of an unusual museum with incredible artefacts of the early Islamic, Crusades, and Mamluk periods.   
Dan Bahat. The Illustrated Atlas of Jerusalem. New York: Simon & Schuster, 1990.
Hardcover, dust jacket, 152 pages, over 400 color maps, drawings, and text illustrations. Dimensions: 30 x 23 cm. 
Summarizing the whole set, this is the first truly historical atlas explicitly devoted to the ancient and modern Jerusalem. Bahat was an official archaeologist of Jerusalem and has written a scholarly work, which covers over 3,000 years of the city's geography, archaeology, architecture, history, and biblical studies. The detailed and informative text is based on the writings of Wilson, Bartlett, and other authors of this set of books, as well as on subsequent findings. 
Condition: Clean pages, tightly bound. Boards are clean, corners are intact. The dust jacket is nearly intact. Ex libris on a flyleaf, and the previous ex libris was removed from the title page, with a piece of the page missing in the lower left corner.
