Livre neuf et signé par Harry Gruyaert. Publié à l’occasion de l’exposition à la Gallery 51 (Belgique) du 11 février au 8 avril 2017. 
« It’s not about cars » par le photographe belge vivant à Paris Harry Gruyaert (Belgique, 1941), inclut plusieurs images qui sont présentées au public pour la première fois.
Comme le titre l’indique, ce livre ne parle pas de voitures. Les automobiles ne servent que de leitmotiv pour guider le spectateur à travers l’œuvre variée de Gruyaert, qui se caractérise par une manière cinématographique d’encadrement et un traitement sensible de la couleur, de la forme et de la lumière.
Dans la seconde moitié des années 70, Harry Gruyaert est l’un des premiers photographes européens à s’engager entièrement dans la photographie en couleur. Ses bases cinématographiques lui ont imposé une conception esthétique de la photographie. Les images de Harry Gruyaert sont simplement des instantanés de moments magiques dans lesquels différents éléments visuels, principalement la couleur, la forme, la lumière et le mouvement, se rassemblent spontanément devant son objectif. Ses tonalités grasses et saturées sont des éléments autonomes qui confèrent structure et profondeur à la composition ; photos en couleurs.

‘It’s not about cars’ by Paris based photographer Harry Gruyaert (Belgium, 1941), including several images that are presented to the public for the first time. As the title states, this book is not about cars. The automobiles only function as a leitmotif to guide the viewer through Gruyaert’s varied œuvre, which is characterised by a cinematographic way of framing and a sensitive treatment of colour, form and light.
Gruyaert decided in the second half of the 1970s as one of the first photographers in Europe to commit himself entirely to colour photography. His cinematographic background inflicted on him an aesthetic conception of photography. Gruyaert’s images are simply snapshots of magical moments in which different visual elements, primarily colour, form, light and movement, spontaneously come together in front of his lens. His bold, saturated tonalities are autonomous elements that grant structure and depth to the composition.
