Heavy crystal and silver carafe from 1949, made by Hultman A/BJL, Stockholm.

This is a beautiful hand-blown crystal carafe with sterling silver collar, crafted in Stockholm in 1949 by Hultman A/BJL. The company was active between 1920 and 1957 and is known for elegant handmade pieces of high quality.

The carafe has a strong, heavy feel in the hand, with clear crystal walls and fine detailing. It comes with its original stopper and is fully hallmarked: JLH for the maker (Hultman A/BJL), the three crowns and S for Swedish silver, the Stockholm town mark, and the year letter Y8 for 1949.

Condition: good for its age. There is one chip on the body, a few microchips on the edge of the stopper (barely visible), and some light surface scratches to the silver rim from normal use. The inside could use a light cleaning, but overall this is a fantastic piece that has survived 76 years and still looks impressive elegant. Fantastic piece.
