Antica traduzione latina curata da Paolo Aringhi,
sotto il cui nome e’ talvolta catalogata.
L’ opera fu in realtà originariamente stilata da Antonio Bosio (1576/1629), storico italiano del primo seicento, noto come uno dei principali speleologi del suo tempo e riconosciuto come il “padre dell’ archeologia cristiana”.
Le sue ricerche nelle catacombe di Roma portarono alla stesura di un libro meraviglioso e di grande influenza sulla storia e le antichità romane: “Roma sotterranea”.

In seguito al successo dell’ opera di Bosio, lo storico Paulus Aringhus pubblicò una traduzione latina, nel qui presente esemplare, che si rivelò altrettanto popolare dell’ originale.
Questa edizione del 1671, “Roma subterranea novissima” di Aringhi, include numerosissime incisioni a piena pagina e nel testo e fu pubblicata ad Arnhem, nei Paesi Bassi.

Meravigliosa legatura, strettamente coeva, in piena pelle perfettamente conservata, con dorso a 5 nervi riccamente decorato, oltre a tassello in marocchino rosso con titolo dorato.
Eleganti decori dorati alle unghiature.

Ottima conservazione degli interni, con carte forti, fresche, robuste ed assolutamente integre.
Perfetta conservazione anche delle 51 (di 51) tavole numerate, con alcuni errori di numerazione e collocazione ma tutte presenti, oltre a splendida antiporta architettonica di Roma.
Lieve fisiologica brunitura delle pagine.
Elegante manoscritto coevo al taglio inferiore.
Conservate le sguardie originali.
