Laat 19e-eeuws gegoten messing wierookvat, circa 1880-1900 in neo-gotische stijl. Het vat is gedecoreerd met gotische motieven. Voor kerkelijk gebruik in de katholieke kerk

Materiaal:
- messing.

Afmetingen:
- lengte met kettingen: 126 cm.
- hoogte zonder kettingen: 24 cm.
- diameter: 13 cm.

Conditie:
-goed, enkele gebruikssporen. (zie foto's)


Een wierookvat (in het Latijn Turibulum of Thuribulum) is een vat waarin wierook gebrand wordt.

Meestal bestaat het uit een schaal met deksel. Aan de schaal zijn drie kettingen bevestigd, waarmee het wierookvat kan rondgedragen worden tijdens de eredienst of opgehangen worden aan de standaard. Een vierde ketting is bevestigd aan het deksel. Met deze ketting kan het deksel omhoog getrokken worden om wierook bij te vullen. Dit gebeurt door wierookkorrels op gloeiende kolen te leggen.

De misdienaar die het wierookvat draagt is de thuriferarius, thuriferar of wierookdrager
