This book presents three decades of the award-winning photographer's work; Klavdij Sluban's photographic writing, imbued with literary references, establishes a distance from the subject and immediate current events. The event is a pretext: it translates a moment that reflects both the reality encountered and the author's feelings. Always oriented towards the East, the French-Slovenian photographer fills deserted, even uninhabitable places with his gaze. He expresses his point of view with an artistic ethic without compassion or complacency. His work cycles span several years and different countries or regions, such as the Balkans (sharing part of his journey with the French writer François Maspero, they will publish a book together, Balkans-Transit, with the writer's text and a selection of photographs by Sluban who won the RFI-Witnesses of the World award in 1997), the coasts of the Black Sea, the former Soviet Union, trans-Siberian, also around the Baltic Sea and then the Caribbean Islands (Cuba, Dominican Republic, Haiti), Jerusalem, Latin America , Asia (China, Japan) and Indonesia.
