Peugeot - 504 Coupé - 1978

General

With this beautiful Peugeot 504 Coupé Automatic from 1978, we organize a delightful tour every year along country roads and B&Bs in Normandy, the Eiffel, or Cornwall. The iconic design by the Italian studio Pininfarina (also responsible for Ferrari and Maserati) attracts attention, as does the chic gris fumée metallisé paint and sporty rims. When you drive into a village, onlookers show admiring glances and thumbs up.
The smooth automatic transmission, comfortable seats, and the typical French suspension enhance the driving pleasure. The electric windows, spacious trunk, and the original light velour upholstery also contribute to this.
The car has no air conditioning, but on nice days with the windows fully open, it stays wonderfully cool, and almost without any wind noise.
The car has always been stored in a dry and ventilated garage, is in good condition, ready to drive, equipped with Dutch registration and APK approval until May 2026.

Bodywork & Paint Shop

The bodywork is in good condition. The floor has been professionally coated around 2001. The windows and chrome work (lights, bumpers, window surrounds, and the roof rail) are all in good condition. Most of the rubber seals are also good, except for damage to the rubber on the driver's side door and the trunk lid. Since I have owned the car (2018), there has been no body damage.
The paint (smoke gray metallic) is also in good condition, with some minor signs of use and a few areas that could be touched up. The car has been repainted once, and one door appears to have a slightly different color from a certain angle. There are three spots where the bodywork and paint could be improved.
The side windows open and close electrically without any issues (even when the contact is off), and the triangular ventilation hatches can be manually opened and closed. The glass is original and in very good condition. The cabin is well water-tight.

Technical

The 2-liter (1971cc) fuel injection engine always starts on the first try, runs smoothly, and hardly uses any oil. The engine has just under 110,000 km on it. Recently, all ignition components were replaced, and a few years ago, the gaskets of the manifold and parts of the exhaust were renewed. The three-speed automatic transmission of American origin shifts very smoothly and can be manually limited to 2 or 1 gear for downhill drives.
The brakes are good, and the front brake discs have recently been replaced. The power steering works well during normal use. Only when the steering wheel is turned fully to the left or right against the stop does the pump start to squeal a bit. Some oil also leaks.
Every two years, two new tires have been purchased. The battery was replaced last year. In winter, it is advisable to disconnect the battery to prevent drainage.
This year, a new windshield washer pump has been installed.
A maintenance overview has been kept since 2018, including the invoices.

INTERIOR:

The upholstery is still original. The rear is in very good condition, and the seats of the front chairs have recently been fitted with new foam and new suspension; the original upholstery has been restored by hand afterward. In a few places on the seat, pieces of original fabric have been sewn in. The ceiling is also original and in good condition. The door panels are similar, although they show some signs of use here and there. The same applies to the edges of the dashboard compartment. The rest of the dashboard is in very good condition.
All interior and exterior lighting and indicator lights work as they should. The original dashboard clock also functions well but remains slightly behind at higher temperatures. The electric power windows work properly, as do the fan and rear window heating. A retro car radio is installed.

Documents

The car was first registered in France on November 7, 1978. It was imported and registered in the Netherlands on September 14, 2001, with all obligations fulfilled. Over the past 24 years, the car has had only 2 owners. There is a valid APK inspection until May 1, 2026 (see RDW).

Other Information

There are 2 sets of keys. Separate keys are provided for each of the 2 doors, the tailgate, and the ignition. The fuel cap is secured with the key from the right door.
A waterproof cover for covering the car is included.
You will find the spare tire under the car, removable via a tow eye in the trunk. You will also find the jack behind the left panel.
