A large and finely painted wide porcelain jar, measuring circa 20cm in diameter and weighing 1789g, decorated in cobalt blue to depict the Shuangxi double happiness characters among vines of lathyrus. The décor represents a wish for a good marriage with many children. This design was popularized by its use at the occasion of the wedding of the young Tongzhi emperor in 1872. 

Condition: Overall good, a few chips to the neck rim, see pictures, no further significant damages or repairs. Minimal wear commensurate with age and use. No lid present. 

This lot will be carefully packaged and sent by registered and insured mail.
